Named for the origami crane, the Oritsuru spreads into two walnut wings that rest against your pages, with a soft cradle at its centre for your finger. It asks for one hand and frees the other — so you can read or annotate while it holds even large, heavy books open with ease.

In Japanese tradition, the crane is a figure of devotion and long life, and legend tells that whoever folds a thousand of them is granted a single wish. That's the spirit it was carved to hold: not the reward of one bright moment, but the quiet promise of constancy — page after page, across the thousands, until what once felt far off slowly becomes your own.

Hand-carved and finished in solid walnut, joined with wooden pins, each piece is warm to the touch and carries the grain of the tree it came from. When the reading is done, it folds gently into itself and returns to its pouch — light enough to travel, yet made to answer to time rather than resist it. An object made to be kept.
